This book is part of the limited edition Indian Tribal Series that was produced in the mid 1970's. Only 15,000 were ever printed. This is the first and only edition. It is hand-signed by the tribal chief at the time of its publication. This book covers the history, culture, tradition, struggles for freedom, current life of the tribe and much more. It is 100+ pages and is made with a beautiful blue textured soft cover, with silver lettering on the side and an embossed design of indian life or symbol on the front. The book features high-gloss pages and a wealth of rare photos. It is signed by chief Orval Kirk. Territory and Origins Occupied what is now Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas, and Missouri Interesting Excerpts From the Book: "Not all of the Indian tribes in Louisiana were friends of the Spaniards and the Chickasaw and Osage were especially troublesome.....In 1782, the Spanish governor called on the Kickapoo for help, and they set off immediately to attack the Chickasaw...Armed with Spanish weapons, the Kickapoo raided the Osage lands from St. Louis to Natchitoches, taking scalps and selling them to the nearest Spanish buyer. By 1800 the Osage were ready for peace."
