It is a knockoff copy of Davis' Vegetable Pain Killer. Absalom Kalb was born in 1817 and started in the patent medicine business in Quincy in 1857. He had been operating a grocery business at the corner of 5th & Hampshire before stating his medicine business at 645 Hampshire. He operated his patent medicine business up until his death in 1900. He must have been one of the older sole proprietor medicine manufacturers in the US. He was also a preacher and lecturer.
