Up for your consideration is a Rare Fire King Anchor Hocking Blue Fired On Color over Opalescent Kimberly Mug.Auction is for the mug only. The other items pictured are for reference only.This is a very rare mug. An Anchor Hocking employee made this during lunch break and then put it in his lunchpail to take home and was sitting in his cupboard until I discovered it at his estate sale. This was the story I was told by his mother... The mug started out as a rare opalescent glass poured into a Kimberly mug mold then a Fired on a blue color over it. I believe this is a one of a kind.For those of you who do not know what opalescent glass is. Opalescent glass is an opaque almost see through white milk glass. It is not like the iridescent mug as seen on eBay since it does not have a carnival glass like finish to the mug. Opalescent glass was a used color by Fire King. They made their Moonstone glasses from this, not mugs. I provided a picture of what opalescent glass looks like.Please see all of the photos I have provided.All of my glassware I sell comes to you clean and ready to use or display. The mug is marked with the Anchor Hocking logo. There are NO chips, nicks, cracks or scratches on the mug. The mug is very glossy inside and out. No dishwasher stains or etchings on the mug. The inside and outside rims are smooth to the touch. Graphics are in mint condition. There is a silver mark on the mug as shown in the picture.You will not find a better mug than this.
