Old Forest Service Identification TREE Sign LODGEPOLE PINE - $30 - (Tignall, GA)

This is an old Forest Service sign. It is made of paper and measures approx. 9" x 11" . It is fairly thick paper stock which is approx. .014" thick as compared to regular blue-line which is approx. .003" thick. Lodgepole pine may be distinguished by short yellow-green needles which occur in bundles of two; by small hard one-sided cones that remain unopened on the trees for several years, and by slender smooth poles with thin brown bark. The heat of trees, which quickly kill lodgepole, opens the cones and the seed is dropped on the bare ground. A dense stand of young trees usually results, but it requires 120 to 160 years for these trees to reach commercial size. Below that reads ....To Keep The Forest Productive PREVENT FOREST FIRES". I was told from the elderly couple that I acquired these from that they were in an old Forest Service building that they had bought years ago and that's where they have been stored until I got them. This one is not dated . According to the information I've gathered this was the official FS emblem used from 1920-1938. This one has very moderate wear, smudges/stains, a crease at the top right corner and there is a tack/nail hole at the top within the emblem. Please check out my other listings. I'm happy to combine/discount shipping cha…
