Vintage steel Egg Timer with Brass base unique - $35 - (Fairfield, ME)

This is a very unique piece i found at a local auction. Don't really know much about it, looks quite old 40's or 50's maybe. there is no manufacturer listed on it, on the back it is stamped Patent Applied For, No other markings. The base is brass and the timer itself is steel. it is quite heavy for an egg/oven timer it weighs 1lb 4 oz and is 4" L X 3 1/2" tall and 3" wide. I did not see anything similar on ebay so i think it is quite rare.Would make a great addition to a collection or just a cool usable kitchen gadget.
