Canada Revenue FCH1 Embossed War Tax on Private Company Draft. Very Rare Usage - $10 - (Huron-Kinloss, ON)

A 1926 sight draft drawn on The Harris Abattoir Company, Limited of Toronto for $20.22 on which 2 cents war tax duty was required. Payment of the tax was evidenced by an embossed stamp, van Dam FCH1. This draft was prepared for the company whereas most embossed stamps are found on documents printed by the banks for their clients and bear the bank name and address at the top. Those are common but private company usage is very rare.A similar draft was offered for $250.00 on a recent major dealer's internet sale.
