The BMT 109 is the medium wide model in the three-model V-Werks BMT series of fat-but-light touring skis. With its 109-mm waist, it's quicker edge-to-edge than the BMT 122, with a bit more hard-snow versatility. And it's lighter, weighing in at 1,740 in the 186 length. The BMT series comprises three models ranging in width from 94 to 122 mm. All are wide by backcountry touring standards-for optimal flotation in deep backcountry snow-but Volkl's premium V-Werks construction keeps the weight down at every opportunity. All are wood-core, carbon-rich constructions featuring Volkl's 3D Ridge construction: A raised ridge down the center of the ski that allows the ski to be thinner, lighter, and more sensitive over the edges yet just as strong torsionally and longitudinally. Volkl sells pre-cut, glueless skins to match each BMT model.
