Reads in part Hand written document reads in part (spellings as written) "I Timothy Locke of Ashby in the County of Middlesex...in consideration of three hundred dollars paid me by John (illegible, possibly "Tebsue?") of Chelmsford....a certain tract of Land lying in Stoddard in the County of Cheshier (Cheshire) state of New Hampshier (Hampshire).... (witnesses) Sally Flagg / Allen Flagg....May 8th 1802 (Justice of the Peace) Allen Flagg."According to History of the Town of Westford, by Edwin Hodgman, Allen Flagg was a physician who often served the poor people of the region around 1802, and also apparently served as Justice of the Peace. Timothy Locke, then of Ashby, was married to Rebecca Dutton of Westford by Pastor Caleb Blake in 1804.CONDITION Overall very good. Has the expected wear, age darkening and toning.
