ORIGINAL Green Giant Great Big Tender Sweet Peas Print Ad Cardinal Perched Bush - $11 - (Cushing, ME)
Green Giant's been around since 1925. The Minnesota Valley Canning Company came up with the name when none of the companies for whom they canned wanted to sell their strangely large yet tender variety of pea, called Prince of Wales. They named the brand Green Giant and flaunted the glories of the veg in the label name, as you see in this terrific - and beautiful, brilliant red cardinal adorned - 1940 ad for Great Big Tender Sweet Peas. We rescued this great ad from the front cover a 1940 news and culture magazine and trimmed away age browning and tattering at the edges - all set for you to mount, frame, use in your own crafting or throw in an acrylic frame or magnet back and use to decorate your fridge, retro kitchen or out in the greenhouse near your own XL veggies. :) 12.5" X 10" We ship in cello bags, between cardboard and in poly mailers. We always ship with care. Collect a bunch ~ We combine shipping! A LITTLE FRIENDLY SHOP TALK: We are crazy about old ads and ephemera. Our store is as creative a project as it is a money-making venture. We rescue any ads that appeal to us, regardless of condition. We are probably not the store for the mint condition crowd - we often trim away blemishes, rips, browning edges and other ugly scars of a long magazine life. Sometimes we cut wacky shapes to save an ad from being unloved and trashed. While we often leave too little edge for standard matting, we feel our buyer is, like us, wanting a genuine old ad (or many) to have fun with - ready to craft your own collage or throw in an acrylic frame or magnet back and slap on the fridge or wall with no formal fuss. (As we always say - you ought to see OUR OWN fridge!) We will always indicate any real damage or noticeable blemish, but otherwise be sure and mouse over the photos to see condition. Thank you for browsing and shopping our steadily expanding store. Please message us with any questions or even if you just wanna jaw about old stuff.
