Anasazi Mimbres Roadrunner bowl replication - $75 - (Springerville, AZ)

The now extinct Mimbres culture, an offshoot of the Anasazi, existed in the American southwestern deserts from circa 200 to 1150 A.D. The culture is best known for the fantastic creatures they painted upon small to medium sized ceramic bowls. This is a replication of a bowl upon which a wonderful roadrunner is hilariously rendered in a highly stylized fashion. The bowl is richly covered in fire clouds and a smoky patina that can only be achieved through the use of primitive construction and processing techniques. The vessel was wood fired in an earth pit and pulled from the cooling ashes to appear as an authentic artifact emerged from the fabric of a distant time and place; it is authentic appearing and difficult to believe it is a replication rather than a Mimbres original artifact. At Starling Black Studio we strive to preserve the prehistoric arts by replicating original artifacts from extinct cultures. Our goal is not only to recreate these wonderful works of arts, but to also maintain the rawness and beauty of the original. Thank you for looking. Dimensions: 6 inches diameter Price: $75.00 with free shipping within the contiguous United States
