54781. Original Spanish-American War Photo of Brig Gen James Lincoln & Headquarters Staff, Second Brigade, Third Division, Fourth Corps, US Army Volunteers, seated outside their tents in the field. Veterans of the Battle of San Juan HIll, JUly 1, 1898, with Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Lincoln (1845-1922) was in the CSA Cavalry on Jeb Stuart's Staff, was at Gettysburg, witnessed surrender at Appomatox. This photo was in the papers of Major Samuel Treat Armstrong (1859-1944), Brigade Surgeon, seated at the General's left hand. 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" albumen photograph on 11" x 10 1/4" mount, inscribed with the names of all the soldiers depicted.
