Original Scalextric 1957 tinplate Maserati 250F 1/32 SLOT CAR - offered by MTH. Officially introduced on January 1957 Harrogate International Toy fair, Scalex introduced Ferrari 375 and Maserati 250F, car chassis were modified to accept a specially designed rear mounted miniature electric motor fitted across the chassis with insulated split wheel under the chassis at the front to act as a guide and also to pick up low voltage electric current from the metal lined slot. This new toy car was called "Scalextric" as the new cars were powered by electricity. the "trix" was simple added to Scalex forming the new name" Scalextric". This is a real "McCoy". Car is in excellent condition to be more than 55 years old. All the paint is original. All the tabs are present. All 4 tires are original Minimodels LTD's. Motor was tested and runs great. Car is missing steering wheel and original driver. This is a real Scalextric Collector's car. Said on the frame "Scalextric" Reg. Brit & For. pat. PNOG.
