C. 1780 - 1820 BRASS CANDLESTICKS Sloping Square Base CANDLE HOLDERS - $500 - (Franklin, NC)
This pair of lovely old candlesticks is from early in the popular rise of sloping square bases. They measure about 6 ½ inches tall. As you see from the pictures, they have no problems. These have the urn-shaped socket, but it retains the tapering stem of the 18th Century. Both sticks have the “push up rods” still in them, and one of them has the original brass nut. Similar candlesticks are shown by Neumann in his book, Antique Country Furnishings (from 1984), on page 69. Twenty five years ago in 1984, he valued a pair of these candlesticks at $550. This outstanding pair of antique brass candleholders is offered with NO RESERVE and with the opportunity to Buy It Now. Buyer agrees to pay shipping.
