~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ A wonderfully rare antique French wholecloth quilt, double sided. This textile belonged to a very important private collection. This piece dates c1820 or earlier. Lovely double sided textile The designs are wood block printed. The floral cartouche side has survived in much better condition than the floral leaf design on the back side. Each uses glorious and rare designs! This quilt is hand quilted and there is a light cotton batting between the layers. This textile has holes, fractures and tears in the fabric in many places. It is in unwashed condition and this quilt should never be washed with water as the risk to further deterioration to the fabric is too high. This quilt can be unpicked for the amazing fabric ~ or This quilt is ideal for display, design inspiration or any important textile collection.
