Antique Linens and Textiles Marghab - $325 - (Harrison, NY)

These ,excellent, condition Marghab Breakfast Set. They are from Madeira, Portugal. They are made of Irish Linen and Margandre whis is a form of Organdy which was imported from Switzerland. Marghab was and is still known as the Tiffany of Linens. Many of these linens can be found in the South Dakota Art Museum, where the wife of the Marghab is from. They are all hand made and the story goes that the workers, because of Mrs Marghab were paid not an hourly wage, but for every stitch. They have been in one household all these years. The placemat measures 21x14 inches and the napkins measure 10x10.
