CHINESE WUACI PORCELAINBRUSH POTQing Dynasty / Kangxi Mark and Period (1662-1722) AN UNUSUAL LARGE MULTICOLORED PORCELAIN BRUSH POTKANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) Of cylindrical shape, the background finely painted with small colorful flowers enclosing four exquisitely painted panels in green, yellow, pale aubergine, pale red, and black, two with officials being waited on by attendants and two of landscapes with leafy trees, flowers and a delicate bird. The Wucai (literally five-color) palette was used in the Wanli period (1573–1619); from this palette came the Famille Verte palette introduced in the 17th century and the Kangxi period (1662–1722), the period from which this Brush Pot was created. This Brush Pot features a predominant green enamel together with pale red, yellow, aubergine and black.
