This auction is for an EXTREMELY RARE authentic ancient Medieval silver & gold Bosun's Whistle (Boatswain's Pipe/Call) dated 1300 AD-1500 AD (over 500 years old), this is one of the earliest Bosun's Whistles ever found. This whistle has a fabulous design with traces of gold coating and beautiful patina. It is broken, with two corroded holes in the bowl, otherwise complete. It is in good condition. Measures 54mm in length. Found in Europe. A similar whistle is shown Nigil Mills "Medieval Artefacts" #NM277 (shown in picture 4). Another example can be seen on the "Whistle Museum" website.
