Armada Chest 17 Century German Iron Europe Metal Large Trunk Strong box Antique An unusually complex locking system that has 10 moving bolts. The chest is believed to be made in Germany and is estimated to be 17th century. There are three original large iron keys that come with this and all of the locks function. There are two working padlocks, a secret main lock on the top and another workinglock inside the chest that opens another interior strongbox. Underneath the lid, shielded by an ornate metal cover is a complex iron lock system. The lid does not full close - it may be closeable, but I did not want to force it and risk damagingthe chest. This is an antique and has wear, marks and damage from age and use. Hidden under the black paint are small vignettes - the chest would have been very colourful and elaborate.The original painting are visible and if the layer of black paint was carefully removed, an amazing amount of original painting would be revealed! Measures Approximately 32 3/4" (not including handles) WIDE x 17 5/8" DEEP x 17 3/8" TALL Although we have not weighed this, we estimate the weight to be upwards of 300Lbs or more. -- IMPORTANT NOTE -- The shipping amount is NOT CORRECT.
