Two Byzantine style imperial figures standing facing, supporting between them labarum resting on three steps / Christ standing facing, holding Gospels. Cf. S&S Type 73; cf. Album 1850. Very unusual coin. There is a much more common (still scarce) example imitating the Constantine X with Eudocia type, featuring Islamic legends in the fields. However, this one has substantial differences. I was only able to find one other example which was sold by CNG for nearly $1,100 (see Esale 198, lot 342). They noted that it may be a Crusader imitation of one of Mahmud's coins. Extremely interesting, extremely rare, and worthy of further study.
