Custom-designed and fabricated by Alan Wilkinson, owner and designer-maker at Wilkinson Koa Furniture, in Pearl City, Hawaii. This Hawaiian Curly Koa wood presentation box may be used for jewelry, stationery, and keepsakes. The box has a sliding, lift-out tray for small items such as rings and bracelets; and a larger compartment below. This box may also be used as an urn. The top is very curly "golden" Koa wood, framed with old-growth Pheasantwood. The feet are turned from Lychee wood, very fine-grained and "satiny" to the touch. The interior is lined with Port Orford Cedar for a pleasant, delicate scent. The bottom is lined with velvet in a deep red shade, to provide a soft "landing" and attractive background for special treasures or stationery. The outer surfaces are finished with fine furniture oil and wax. The entire piece looks and feels like the fine furniture that Alan Wilkinson is known for, the curly Koa glowing with light, and the surfaces satin-smooth to the touch.
