MEP-007B Military 100KW Generator with 651 hours - $7,950 - (Napa, CA)
This auction is for a nice condition MEP-007B 100kW military generator mounted on its appropriate military M353 trailer. It has just over 651 original hours of use and everything works 100%. I went thru the Army's "depreservation" procedure- going through the entire fuel system replacing filters and then tested all the components (such as solenoids, pumps, injectors,etc) to insure the fuel delivery system works flawlessly. The oil filter was replaced, then both the oil and engine coolant were drained and replaced. The 6 cylinder diesel engine (217 hp) was checked for compression and a leak down test between cylinders was performed to insure that the engine is within specifications. An electrical load was placed on all the different circuits of the generator (while the engine was at speed) to insure that it produces the rated power at each voltage setting. The trailer was dismantled and inspected (pulling off tires and replacing bearings and repacking as needed) to insure that it will provide trouble free service. This family of generators run at 1800 RPMs when under full load- about half of what the most expensive civilian models run at. The compression ratio is also markedly higher than on comparable civilian diesel units. The engine and the generator set are both designed to be hardy in the field and to operate under combat conditions. They are built simply to facilitate this and to make it relatively easy to diagnose the odd issue that may crop up and to repair it in the field. The end result for civilian use is that, if these generators are maintained properly, they will provide many thousands of hours of use before any major refurbishment is needed. Under combat/field use the Army manuals state that 5000 hours on the meter is typically the earliest that these models will need any major work done on them. The military underrates the output of these generators by 25%- so one that is rated at 100kW will actually do 125kW under normal operating conditions. That …
