Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio is a Steiff 5-Bear DREAM BAND on Stage and Celebrating The Year 2000. The stage includes a wind-up, built-in music box that plays, When The Saints Go Marching In. All five bears wear matching black jackets with buttons. At center, on a raised stage, is the Dream Band’s drummer; each band mate holds a different instrument: banjo, trumpet, trombone, clarinet. The stage features a red velvet curtains, a staircase, and the gold decorative top with the millennium commemorative sign. The 8” tall bears have mohair fur, detailed stitching, black eyes, and the iconic Steiff Button-in-the-Ear tag. A limited edition of 2,000 were released in the year 2000. Original retail in the year 2000 was sixteen hundred dollars. Margarete Steiff (1887-1902), founded of the Steiff Toy company in Western Germany by creating and selling her first Steiff animal, a felt elephant. Her nephew, Richard Steiff, designed and displayed the very first Teddy Bear in 1902. Today, Steiff remains among the leading manufacturers of high-quality toys and collectors’ items.
