Blue Writing, Blue Stripes & Blue Decoration on Stoneware Butter Crock - $50 - (Abilene, KS)

For your consideration is a stoneware butter crock. I do not know who manufactured it, because dozens of companies made items similar to this during the first 40 years of the 1900s. The factory decorated it with two blue stripes. Also in blue glaze are three ornate designs and the word Butter. It is 4 3/8" tall, has a bottom diameter of almost 6 1/8", a top diameter of almost 6 1/2", uses a lid that is 5 3/4" - 5 7/8" and filled to the lip for the lid holds 1 1/2 quarts of tap water. The carrying bail (probably wire with a turned wood grip) is missing. The lid is missing. There are chips around the rim and around the bottom edge. There is some crazing. The white places on the rim are glaze. Please carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description. Local pickup is encouraged and local pickup is free.
