For sale is a rare and beautiful John II Comnenus (AD 1118-1143) electrum aspron trachy. The coin weights 4.48g and was struck in Constantinople. The obverse shows Christ, nimbate, enthroned facing, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels while the reverse shows John II and St. George standing facing, holding patriarchal cross between them. Cataloged as Sear 1942. There are some scratches; otherwise the coin grades Good Very Fine for the type. The coin is from the Andre Constantine Dimitriadis Collection.
