~ Antique Hand Painted Berlin Woolwork Pattern Chart ~ AAFA Rare 19th c. original of a hand painted figural Berlin woolwork pattern. Designed by Hertz & Wegener. This pattern was created on pre-printed grided cold pressed water color paper, then the artist hand painted each individual square with gouache to match the selected collection of dyed wool yarns. The chart is numbered in the top right corner #2452 and signed on the bottom left, Hertz & Wegener in Berlin. On the back, penciled in hand written script "Pa worked these when a little boy". Charming gem from the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Circa: 1840-1850 Condition: GOOD Wear appropriate for age, use, and material. The cold pressed paper is strong with only a crease at the center top. Bottom right corner is slightly curled over. There are several pin holes around border and one within the graph.
