Hand Carved Oak Blanket Chest / Coffer Antique Scottish/English - $950 - (Hudson, FL)
Rare hand carved oak Scottish/English blanket chest. It is 48 inches wide x 20 inches deep and is 18 inches high. The front features three detailed and deeply carved panels between carved rails. From left to right, the 1st panel features a scene with three men and a woman holding fruit, the second, a scene with men playing cards and the last features two dancing figures and a musician. The top carved lid is hinged and has floral motifs including thistles. Each end has one carved panel with floral motif. The interior is plain with no carving and does not have a rail for a tray. There is no lock and there are no handles on the sides. The three hinges on the lid appear to be brass and have flat slotted screws. The outside does not appear to be varnished or waxed.
