VINTAGE LOT OF FOUR HARDBOARD PLACEMATS FELT BACK HUNTING SCENES ~ MADE IN ENGLAND ~ 12" X 18" This is a charming set of four (4) hard board placemats with each one showing a different hunting scene of original paintings done by British artist William Samuel Howitt, 1756-1822 and then published in Orme’s Collection of British Field Sports Illustrated in 1807 by Edward Orme . The stain/water resistant vibrant prints are attached to hardboard with the backs covered in green felt to keep them still during use. The board is thick and very sturdy with the edges painted in gold. Printed at the bottom of each placemat is “Samuel Howitt” as well as Published & Sold in 1807, by Edw.d Orme, Print Seller to the King Engraver and Publisher, Bond Street, London”. A white label "Made in England" is attached to the green felt on three of the mats. In good vintage condition with minor dings. Please see photos. Measure approximately 18” by 12”. Each one weighs 1 lb. 9 oz. for a total weight of 6 lb. 4 oz. I have seen people frame them as artwork. Placemats are titled: 1. Partridge Shootingg.1. ~ La Chasse Aux Perdrix. 2.
