Selling of 40 year collection of 18th and 19th century American silver. Over 250 examples, including many in the Chinoeserie taste. Tapering bell or trumpet. Presentation to Dr Samuel L Johnson DD from family General Johnson. Hand carved continuous scene of Chinese life. Junk sailing in quiet harbor, tower and foot bridge over river. Figure with parasol crossing bridge, figure under tent smoking opium pipe. Cast branch handle, vine wrapped around, rough hewn, wood knot surfaces as real. This c1855 Eoff & Shepard pitcher is 10 1/2 inches 33 standard ounces. Hallmarked as shown. In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina. The Chinese harbor, and social scenes retain their crisp detail. Massachusetts residents are subject to sales tax.
