~ Antique Hand Painted Berlin Woolwork Pattern Chart ~ AAFA Rare 19th c. original of a hand painted figural Berlin woolwork pattern. Designed by Bernbei W. Gabbe. This pattern was created by completely hand ruling a full grid layout onto parchment paper, then the artist hand painted each individual square with gouache to match the selected collection of dyed wool yarns. The chart is numbered in the top right corner #249 and signed by the maker on the bottom left, Bernbei W. Gabbe, Niederwallstr. 31, Berlin. Charming gem from the second quarter of the nineteenth century. Circa: 1840-1850 Condition: GOOD / AS-IS Wear appropriate for age, use, and material. The parchment is fragile with creases thru out. Small tears along bottom and left side. Appears to have been backed and framed some 90+ years ago.
