Neat Old Brass Gold Coin Scale We're pleased to offer for your consideration this wonderful antique brass scale by John Allender. It is used to determine weight for 5 genuine U.S. gold coins ranging in value from $1.00, 2 1/2 Dollar, Five Dollar, Ten Dollar and Twenty Dollar. It could detect counterfeit coins. It is a balance scale, and used a counter-weight placed in the $1.00 slot. This weight is not included, as many of them became lost through the years. You might be able to find one on line, or from a coin dealer. This scale is marked Patent Pending. It measures 8 1/2" in length. Since it has Pat. Pending marked on it that does not give a specific patent date. This scale is still operational. This one is probably pre-1855.
