large 1970's framed photo, World Pro Skiing, Snowbird Utah, ski gate, nice - $85 - (Libby, MT)
This auction is for a large framed photo by John Hennessy. This image is a close-up of a ski racer, framed by a ski gate, during a World Pro Skiing race @ Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah. World Pro Skiing was the professional ski racing tour created in 1969 by ski racing pioneer Bob Beattie. A person may be able to identify the racer by visiting the World Pro Skiing history website. It probably dates to the early 1970's (note the bamboo ski gates). John Hennessy was from Libby, Montana. From what I heard, he was an Army photograper in Viet Nam and continued photography as a profession after the war. In the 1970's he photographed ski racers among other subjects and settled in Kalispell, Montana where he opened a studio. The photo measures 15 x 10.75 inches and is double matted in a 22 x 17 inch frame. The photo and frame are in good condition. A nice addition to any collection of vintage ski photos.
