Spectacular CHARLES LOOFF CAROUSEL HORSE- Circa 1910- LONG BEACH PIKE CAROUSEL - $18,995 - (Springfield, OR)

From a local Antique dealer Estate, we offer this amazing 1910 original Charles Looff Front Row Jumper Carousel Horse. The horse is marked 1-10 which signifies that it was in the Tenth Horse in Row 1 on the Carousel. All of the horses on this Historic Long Beach, California Pike Carousel were auctioned off when the Ride was dismantled many years ago. The horse retains it's original tail and has been restored to it's former glory. Documentation of the restoration has been framed and is included with the horse. This remarkable carving has been mounted on a wooden platform and also retains it's original brass pole and hardware. Local Pick Up Only- Eugene, Oregon Charles I. D. Looff was an American master carver and builder of hand-carved carousels and amusement rides. Looff built the first carousel at Coney Island in 1876. During his lifetime, he built over 40 carousels, several amusements parks, numerous roller coasters and Ferris wheels, and built California's famous Santa Monica Pier. He became famous for creating the unique Coney Island style of carousel carving. A carousel museum is located at 2500 Long Beach Blvd, Long Beach, California.
