Antique Large Philippine Visayan Island Sword Sabre Not Kris - $650 - (Dresden, ME)

This is a massive Visayan Island sword that is 25.50” (65cm) in overall. It has a thick, very robust blade, measuring 20.75” in length and 5/16th thick at the base near the guard. The wooden handle is finely carved and depicts a grinning bat face. The sun adorns the top of the handle. It has a thick,domestic bull horn guard. The blade is razor sharp, finely forged, 2.50” wide at the widest point and has some delicate engraving of the top edge. This sword is a fine example of a true 19th century fighting weapon of the Philippines. The condition is antique excellent with only the leather covering the wooden scabbard showing its age.
