Early NAVAJO NAVAHO Indian Pictorial Rug/Weaving...Storm Pattern Design...VGCond - $1,175 - (Columbus, OH)

This early Navaho Indian pictorial rug/weaving measures approximately 60" x 31" and features a variant Storm Pattern design with an uncommon red ground. The "center of the world" has stylized feathers. Extended geometric forms at end corner contain "hooks" and represent the four sacred mountains of Navajo mythology. The shapes on either side of the feathers are probably this artist's version of weaver's carding paddles. Handspun wool. VERY GOOD condition. The perimeter is intact with all corner tassels present. NO holes or old repairs. It has not been cleaned but appears pretty clean as is (see photos). Hangs/lays flat. Both sides are pictured. Lazy lines. c. 1920s. 5' x 2' 7". This antique Navajo pictorial weaving with its beautifully variegated coloration displays nicely on the floor or wall. This unique Storm Pattern pictorial rug is ready for placement in your home or office. Ex an Ohio collection of historic Navajo weavings. Please ask for additional photos if necessary. The buyer pays the actual cost for USPS Priority shipping. A handling charge provides insurance coverage at cost. I will email the final invoice with the added handling charge to the winning bidder at the conclusion of the auction. Please wait for the final invoice before you pay. Payment at pick up is also available. Ohio buyers pay 7.50% for sales tax. Returns are accepted for up to 30 days after receipt of the weaving.
