37 Antique Stereoscope Slides - Sears & Roebuck Co buildings & facilities view s - $30 - (East Longmeadow, MA)
These things were old when I was a kid in the '50s! For sale is a lot of 17 antique stereoscopic slides dating from the early 1900s, give or take. All are in black and white and printed on a stiff, non-corrugated cardboard with both sides smooth. This is part of a set of 50 produced by Sears Roebuck & Company showing their offices, stores, and people in various images. Each slide is numbered and contains a brief title/description on the front. On the back are lengthy descriptions of the image(s) on the front. Interestingly, as appropriate for those bygone days, the women employees had a separate dining room! Unfortunately, I do not have all 50 of these slides. Only the following slide numbers are included: 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 50. All these slides appear to be in very good condition considering they are 100 years old, give or take. I could not find any creases, tears, rubbed-off or worn areas, or anything out of the ordinary. On the backs of some of these slides is minor smudges and stains, probably from kids' hands long ago. The worst of the stains are on the backside of #50 as shown at lower right in the last photo.
