Vintage 44 Star US Flag 1890 Wyoming Statehood - Antique Americana - $875 - (Newport News, VA)

As a flag enthusiast and collector myself, I am always on the lookout for exceptional flags and this is an absolutely GORGEOUS flag. The admission of Wyoming to the Union on July 10th, 1890 and made official on July 4th the next year, added the 44th star. This star count lasted for only five years. Flags in this count are rarer than their 45 star and older centennial period brethren. The stripe and canton bunting are of linen material and are machine stitched. The whimsical stars are entirely hand cut and sewn which is very rare for flags produced this late in the 19th century. They are single stars that were sown into the canton on one side, with the blue on the other cut out and sewn around the star so that both sides share a single star. As you can see in the pictures, the colors in this flag are extraordinarily vibrant. A few holes here and there but nothing that distracts from its overall beauty. The grommets are made of brass as is typical for flags post dating the civil war. The manufactured size 5x3 is printed on the heading directly below the top grommet. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to look. Check back often for new offerings! Best Regards, Old Dominion Flags
