Antique N. HARDING Boston Coin Silver Tea Pot - $1,095 - (Chapin, SC)
A rare antique solid coin silver tea pot made by N. HARDING & CO. Boston, Massachusetts. This splendid tea pot dimensions are 9-1/4" tall by 9" across by 6" in diameter; with a 4-1/4" footed base. It weighs 764 grams. Hallmarked N. HARDING & CO., BOSTON and COIN. Newell Harding went into business for himself in 1822. The form of decoration on this pot is considered a variation of Repousse which is created by hammering a design form into silver from the inside, with added sharpness of form provided by surface chasing. My best estimate of age is this was made between 1850 to 1860. Regarding condition it is in remarkably excellent shape for its' age. Very minor dings around the outside diameter, otherwise great surface and patina. Sits level, tight handle and lid closes securely. There is a monogram (S. A. D.) as such was typical in this time period. We are selling this used item as pictured and as / is so please read the entire description and look at all the photos and email if questions remain before bidding. Thank you.
