Fine Appliqué 1883 Quilt Butterflies~ Signed Sara Mcbride - $1,750 - (Phoenix, AZ)

Lovely old appliqué quilt, signed Sarah McBride 1883. Grapes, flowers and butterflies. Very fine appliqué and quilting. 86" x 90". A pretty, warm shade of red, faded acid green, pink and a dash of yellow, on off white. An immense amount of very fine quilting, absolutely everywhere. 11 to 12 tiny stitches per inch per side. Princess feathers all over, and 1/4 inch diagonal lines in between the wreaths. Extraordinarily good condition, just one 1/4 inch L-tear to be stitch, a 1/4 inch wear in a red area, and a small hole, nothing much. The border is worn, in tack, but still worn. Thinly cotton batted, still in place without shifting. A little cottonseed residue in evidence. Masterpiece really does speak for itself.
