18th Century 1700's Revolutionary War Relics Signal Salute Cannon Powder Tester - $250 - (Pinewood, SC)
For your consideration is an excellent example of a Revolutionary War signal cannon dug in 1908 at Ft. Ticonderoga in the Champlain River valley of New York and obtained from a private collection in Plattsburg. It is very solid with no flaking, weighs 4 lbs. 7 ozs., measuring 4 3/4 " tall and has a base that is 3 1/4" wide and in excellent dug relic condition. Signal cannons served in a multitude of task from signaling troops of enemy forces advancing, preparing for an advance of attack on the enemy, scaring away Native Americans, entering a port, ceremonies and powder testing. A few examples can be found in Neumann & Kravic's book, " Collector's Illustrated Encyclopedia of the American Revolution on page 15. A super artifact that will certainly be a top addition to your collection of Revolutionary War artifacts.
