This is a rare 1945 first edition copy of "Textiles of Highland Guatamala", by Lila M. O'Neale, drawings by Lucretia Nelson, published by Carnegie Institute of Washington D.C., 1945 It measures 9 x 11.5". Signed by former owner, Berta Frey, famous Weaver, inside cover. Berta Frey (8 November 1893 – 1 February 1972) was a well-known New York weaver, who spoke and taught about weaving techniques for many years in Woodstock, NY. She was one of the founders of the Handweavers Guild of America. The last seventy five pages of illustrations in this large book are in a different type of paper. This section is starting to pulling away a bit from the (cheap) paper spine. See last photos. Fragile from age basically. Cover has some darkening and spotting, no foxing, no dampstaining, no paper waving. Half the book is text, roughly, and half is illustrations, with summary descriptions. Black/white. A definitive work. .
