Little Black Sambo Animated Book Helen Bannerman Authentic Baby Doll Too 1943 - $187 - (Harrisburg, IL)

For sale is an authentic animated Little Black Sambo book by Helen Bannerman with animations by Julian Wehr. This book was purchased by the family of a lady recently admitted to a nursing home who had collected most of her life. She said this book came with the little black boy that she had kept in a plastic book along with the book since she received the book many years ago. I cannot find any details about this black Americana baby but it makes sense, especially when you look at the doll and then look at Little Black Sambo's clothes in the book. The book itself has been taped to hold the front onto the front page. Both the front and back covers have separated from the spine and rest of the pages. The pages themselves are browned and have some smudges but not bad for the age of this book. All of the pages are attached to the ring binder and there is no writing on the pages. There are no tears that I have seen either. All of the animations work too. I think my favorite part of the book is the baby that comes with it. He is 1 1/2" long and does not appear to be hand made. He is made very well and has the correct colors for the book. I believe the baby gives the value to this book.
