Turtle Earrings! Great set of earrings (2)!! The Sterling Silver plated turtles measure 3/4" and with the earring wire they measure 1 3/4" (drop). The earring wire is stainless steel. The Turtle Clan was (and still is in many nations and cultures) a very powerful and important clan representing one of the major clan groups in the Northeast and Great Lakes areas and indeed throughout North America. There has been much research done about where and when the clans exerted power and influence during the pre-contact and colonial periods of North American history. Many legends, particularly the Iroquoian , speak of the turtle (turtle's back) as being the original 'land' that human beings first set their feet upon.
