D454 Software Engineer (5+ years) - (Chicago, IL)

Department 454, Ship Systems Software Engineering. Engineers apply software and computer engineering skills to specify, design, develop, integrate, and test, as well as subcontract manage software engineering for US Navy Nuclear Submarines. Leveraging the latest state-of-the-art technologies, and collaborating with systems engineers, submarine software is developed and maintained for a great variety of submarine platforms and control systems such as: Ship Control, Combat Launch Control, Electric Plant Control Panel, Navigation Data Processor, Weapons Stowage and Handling, as well as other specialized embedded real-time safety critical shipboard and database systems, simulators, and land based trainers. Knowledge of the software engineering life-cycle is required for this position. Additional assignments include software research and development, preparing presentations, participating in NAVSEA design reviews and interfacing closely with hardware and system engineering departments.
