County Commissioner WHO MAY APPLY THIS APPOINTMENT IS OPEN TO CURRENT CLACKAMAS COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY. Outside candidates will be inactivated. JOB INTRODUCTION Clackamas County is seeking a new County Commissioner to fill Seat #5. Following the recent election, Commissioner Jim Bernard is moving to Chair of the Board effective January 3, 2017. A replacement is needed to serve the Commissioner seat vacated by Commissioner Bernard until the next election in 2018. The 5 member Board of Commissioners serves as the governing body which directs the general administration of County government. The Commissioners, each elected to four-year terms, set policies, enact ordinances and establish budgets to perform the services that state law and citizens of the County require. The Board manages an annual budget of about $970 million (includes County and special service districts budgets). The County has approx 2,300 regular status and temporary employees.
