Job Summary Retail Print Ad Designers will create print advertisements that appear in newspapers, magazines, and other types of print media using various font types, color palettes, photographs, and illustrations. They will be responsible for the conception, design and execution of both print and electronic publications.Education RequirementsA bachelor's degree is required for this position.  We prefer designers who have formal training in design and can work with all kinds of formats, including print, electronic, web and animation.Experience in design basics, type design, design software, typography, or commercial advertisement production is a must.Required Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesExcellent skills with design and photo-editing software. Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office. Must be creative, visionary, detail oriented, highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage time and priorities effectively. Accuracy and attention to detail imperative. Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written. Must be able to take initiative to complete tasks and projects. Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Must maintain professional attitude at all times and be able to handle changes in a fast-moving environment. Must be able to work both independently and in a group environment. Job DutiesOriginates design, art, and copy layouts. Determines style, size, and arrangement of type and illustrations to produce quality media publications. Utilizes current graphic design technology and computer software packages to produce advertisements, sales promotions and other visual communications media. Manages projects from concept through to design, approval, print and production. Completes projects ranging from marketing materials, promotional items, advertisements, brochures, flyers and website graphics.
