1944 Dem Natl Com $10 Donation Receipt w/Franklin Roosevelt Harry Truman Jugate - $24 - (Beverly Hills, FL)

In 1944, for only the second time in U.S. history, we held a presidential election in the middle of a war. The previous time was in 1864 during the Civil War between Lincoln and McClellan. (Sorry, but we just aren't putting the Afghanistan/Iraq war in the same category). Even though WWII was reaching a conclusion, there still is little campaign material for collectors, making this 5.25" x 2 15/16" paper receipt from the Democratic National Committee with jugate images of Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman that much more desirable. Remember, in just over five months from election day, FDR died in office. Plus this was for $10 from Mrs. Retta Stone from North Salem, Indiana, in Hendricks County, back when ten bucks was a pretty good chunk of money. This is in nice condition but please enlarge our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with it. Remember, this stuff's called ephemeral, folks, since it was made to be used and then discarded. So we're just lucky to have things like this in any condition to add to our collections.
