This is a rare souvenir program from the West End revival of the groundbreaking RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy "OKLAHOMA!" at the Palace Theatre in London. (The revival opened September 17th, 1980 and ran for just over one year, closing September 19th, 1981.) ..... The musical starred JOHN DIEDRICH as "Curly", CHRISTINA MATTHEWS as "Laurey", MADGE RYAN as "Aunt Eller", ALFRED MOLINA as "Jud Fry", LINAL HAFT as "Ali Hakim", MARK WHITE as "Will Parker", SHAN STEVENS as "Ado Annie" and ROBERT BRIDGES as "Andrew Carnes" ..... Side note: Twenty year-old MARIA FRIEDMAN (making her stage debut) was a member of the ensemble in the role of "Doris" (seventh scanned image) ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS. (This was the first collaboration for Rodgers and Hammerstein who would go on to write "Carousel", "The King and I", "South Pacific", "Flower Drum Song" and "The Sound of Music" among others); Sets and Costumes designed by TIM GOODCHILD; Choreographed by AGNES de MILLE; Dances Restaged by GEMZE DE LAPPE; Directed by JAMES HAMMERSTEIN; Produced by EMILE LITTLER and CAMERON MACKINTOSH ..... PLEASE NOTE: The scanned pages have been cropped due to the limitations of my scanner. The margins are slightly wider than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a bumped corner at the top seam, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
